Disturbing the Peace

These are places built for calm and idyllic scenes, something this series eschews. Each image is pushed through black and white until the stillness turns uneasy. Skies grow heavy, water goes dark and glassy, edges fray and burn. The shacks still stand, the boats still wait at their moorings, but something has shifted. The quiet is no longer restful. It is the quiet before, or after. What remains is the coast as memory sometimes keeps it: beautiful, yet not entirely safe.
